Though there are definitely life situations that should take priority over our regular rounds, situations constantly arising that seem to prevent the completion of things or require consistent reschedules may point to something deeper happening.
- Maybe we’re afraid of what we have undertaken and/or unsure of whether we are capable of ‘pulling it off.’
- The tasks ahead may not be inspiring enough to hold our attention.
- Our interest in what we have set out or promised to do has waned.
I learned from an early mentor that the things we keep avoiding are most likely the things we should actually lean into. I’m not sure whether this is true in all cases but whatever the situation is, when life seems to be constantly getting in the way, either for ourselves or people we interact and work with, it might be time to stop, reflect a bit, and maybe tease out a way forward beyond doubling down and hoping pure willpower will do the job.
