As the contract Managing Director and freelance individual concert producer/promoter, I lured the operational, management, and executive team from local, national, and international locations to build a cohesive organizational structure in creating a start-up ‘A- list’ summer music festival, concert organization, and concert facility.
To support a fast-moving operation this core group of professionals built a cloud of freelance and contract staff who were led through nine (9) months of challenges to a successful opening night and a further eleven (11) concerts through the summer.
The nine (9) month time frame required a ‘quicker, better, and cheaper’ operational process built from lessons learned in earlier corporate, theatrical, and non-profit experiences. ‘New work’ techniques and communication technologies were instituted and consistent interpersonal liaison efforts between the three main stakeholders: iSport Concerts, York University, and the then-named Rexall Tennis Centre were built into the process.
